Myofascial pain is the most popular syndrome in Office workers.

Everybody has been muscle pain condition and refer to other area and you suspect what condition I am? Is it too dangerous or not? Myofascial pain is a prevalent and frequent cause of visits to primary care physicians and pain clinics. Myofascial pain is muscle pain syndrome and involves an autonomic nervous system that you can feel hyperirritability. It’s come from “Trigger point” inside muscle and fascia, mostly in female more than male, between age 30 -60 years old.

Sign and symptom for myofascial pain
    Regional pain feels a dull pain or sharp pain referred pain to other areas such as when palpation or compression at bottom muscle and then move down to your lower leg or back.
    When palpation can found as discrete nodules within a taut band of skeletal muscle that may be spontaneously painful or painful only upon palpation and feel hyperirritability more than other areas.
     MPS has also been associated with other pain conditions such as Migraine Tendonitis or Rheumatoid.
    MPS can be associated with muscle dysfunction, muscle fatigue, weakness, increase tension and decrease flexibility.

Trigger point complex

Factors activated Myofascial pain
    Injury inside muscles from repetitive movement or position that can become fibrosis.
    Behavior or posture in daily living such as slouch posture, shifting weight on your one side when you standing or sitting or hold bag just your one side that makes your muscle imbalance(muscle lengthening or shortness )
    Nerve root impingement can make inflammation of the spinal nerve root that you can feel muscle at the dermatome area.
    Recent studied indicated that MPS is associated with both moods and sleep disruption that make muscle weakness also.
    Endocrine system diseases such as Hypothyroidism.
    Lack of vitamins such as vitamin B or Folic acid.

Myofascial pain can decrease blood circulation flow inside the muscle and have lactic acid in muscle cells when palpation you can found trigger point inside the muscle that may be spontaneously painful(i.e. active) or painful only on compression (i.e. latent) and MPS can be acute within 2 weeks pain will gone away or chronic painful more than 6 months  maybe have some factors not completely fix it such as improper treatment or still not change  your posture

How to treatment in the Physical Therapy program for Myofascial pain
    Physical therapy application or modality: Hot pack put on the pain area and hold about 15 – 20 minute or other modalities such as Ultrasound therapy, High Laser therapy, Shockwave for activated blood circulation and repair muscle cells and Taping therapy for balance muscle to normal alignment.
    Trigger point therapy or deep fascia massage to increase blood circulation and adjust body alignment to balance position and release the tension of muscle and fascia.
    Therapeutic exercise: Stretching exercise (yoga) or strengthening and endurance exercise (gym workout, jogging, swimming) to balance muscle and adjust your posture and body alignment to reduce muscle weakness or fatigue when you do any activities or working for a long time.

In the physical therapy program, you should consult with a physiotherapist or specialist doctor to manage and plan for your condition that individual treatment program because of each patient has different working style, hobby and posture alignment.
